70 years in the making, today we celebrate our history. After an accident in the1940’s, Henry Edgar Robert Wheeler was unable to continue his dairy farming business. And so began Herwood Inc. Starting as a small business providing wood pallets and crating for the local paper mill; and later to Singer Inc. and Consumer Glass; Herwood has since grown and expanded into the business you see today, led by a third generation. We now are one of the major wood pallet suppliers in the Northeast. From New England and across Quebec, into Ontario and the Maritimes we have wood pallets and wood packaging for a variety of shipping needs.
Along the way we have had the pleasure and privilege of serving a varied client base, as well as working with the many people who make Herwood what it is. From upper management to the dedicated production team, Herwood is a company that has learned the value of teamwork, hard work and dedication. Many of our employees have been with us a lifetime and some for numerous years. While business changes over time, our values remain the same as they did on day one: provide exceptional products and services, treat people fairly, and practice integrity.
Another important factor for our business is our community. We believe that being actively involved in our community is important, both for the health and vibrancy of our home; but also for the success of our business. That’s why it has been our great pleasure to be able to sponsor our local hockey team Windsor Wilds, Golf Tournaments for CHUS Foundation, our local Xmas tree-recycling program, and spooky Halloween events, among others. We plan to continue this trend in the future!
Investing in top of the line equipment and facilities is a key factor that has enabled us to provide competitive and current wood packaging products that exceed international shipping requirements. Through restructuring our production line we have increased efficiency and production capabilities, and our recent investment in pallet manufacturing machinery supports high volume runs with ease. From ISPM-15 compliant heat-treated wood pallets to specialty wood shipping crates, our shipping supplies allow consumers to safely ship their goods anywhere in the world.
A common issue for consumers is what to do with broken or damaged pallets. We developed a pallet repair service to reduce the number of pallets going into the garbage and meet the needs of our consumers. Any pallets that cannot be repaired are put through our pallet-recycling program, which chips pallets into a biomass source. No waste!
So, as we celebrate our 70th year of business, we’d like to thank YOU (all of our clients and employees) for your business and dedication to our continued success. Thank You one and ALL!
